Here at Grace Chapel, we are committed to making an impact in the community around us. As followers of Christ, we are called to serve, minister, and help our fellow brothers and sisters in need. We believe that when we work together, we can change the lives of people right in our own back yards!
The Cares4Kids Backpack Project
The Cares4Kids Backpack Project started in 2009, and is a way that we serve children in need through our local school districts. Across the country, teachers and school nurses have come to realize that when Monday arrives, they are sometimes forced to compete against hunger for the attention of their students. How can a child focus on education while trying to ignore the persistent hunger pains? More than 18 million children qualify for free or reduced price meals through the National School Lunch Program, giving them the fuel that they need to get them through the week. But what happens when these children go home over the weekend? The Cares4Kids Backpack Project fills this gap for those children on weekends and school breaks. Bags of nutritious, easy to prepare food are discretely sent home each Friday during the school year. The project is funded through donations of local charitable organizations, local businesses, and members of local churches, such as ours, Grace Chapel.
Grace Chapel is honored to serve our local school, Hermitage School District. Approximately 100 students from Artman Elementary, Ionta Elementary, and Delahunty Middle School will receive their bags on Fridays and over holiday breaks. The estimated cost is about $250 per school year for one child. Grace Chapel is committed to providing the financial support for these children. We are reaching out for support to help feed these children! If your business or even you yourself feels compelled to support the program, please click on this Pledge Card. You may return your Pledge Card along with your tax-deductible donation (make checks payable to Grace Chapel Community Church) to the church. You can also take a Tag from our Church Lobby to sponsor a child for 2016-2017 school year! We would like to thank you in advance for your helping our community serve the children in need!
